Martin J. “Marty” Joseph, 77, of Clinton, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Wynn Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 28, 1948, in Utica, NY, son of the late Joseph G. and Nellie (Mody) Joseph. He attended Utica Free Academy. On October 4, 1969, he married Patricia A. Sieczkowski in Utica, NY. Marty was a member of the Laborer’s International Union #35 of North America and owned and operated Joseph’s Remodeling & Repair.
Marty was a member of St. Louis Gonzaga Maronite Catholic Church; the New York Mills Sportsman Association; the Sauquoit Masonic Lodge and the Clark Mills Vol. Fire Dept. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially the many camping trips with his family and friends at Fourth and Sixth Lake’s. Marty was an avid fisherman and hunter and always looked forward to his trips with his buddies. He was part of the “Deer Doctors” a group of guys who processed and packaged deer and wildlife. In his later years, Marty loved the time spent with his coffee friends, cooking, playing cards and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for being friendly, outgoing, and found pleasure in social activities, conversation and forming bonding relationships.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his daughters, Dawn Joseph-O’Donnell and her husband Kelly of Utica, Katherine Joseph of Clinton; grandchildren, Emma Elizabeth O’Donnell and Daniel Joseph O’Donnell of Utica; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Leah Merlino of New Hartford, Anna and Henry Humiecki of Yorkville, Joan Aboussleman of Utica, sister-in-law, Melanie Piechowicz of Marcy; brother-in-law, David Stump (Sharon Delius) of Chicago, IL; cousin Peter Mody of New Hartford, who Marty considered as his brother.
Marty was blessed to have many nieces, nephews, cousins and God Children. He is also survived by many lifelong friends including Jack Shafer, Tony Acee, David Pokon, James Cahill, Tony Despirito, Terrance Chambrone, Jack McCabe and Sandra (Moorehead) Sherman who held a special place in his heart.
He was predeceased by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Stephanie Sieczkowski; son-in-law, Shawn Crowell; brothers-in-law; John Merlino and Michael Piechowicz; and good friend Richard Panella.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to all the staff at the WYNN Hospital for the care and support that was provided to Marty.
A Mass of the Divine Liturgy for The Faithful Departed will be Celebrated on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10:00 am, from St. Louis Gonzaga Church Maronite Catholic, 520 Rutger St., Utica, NY 13501.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, a from 4 to 7 pm at the R.P. Heintz Funeral Home, 10 E. Park Row, Clinton, NY 13323.
