Ronald P. Roback, 89, of Clinton, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital in Utica. He was born on January 14, 1936, in Utica, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Kopera) Roback. Ron was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in physics from Utica College while working full-time and raising a family. A proud veteran, Ron served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958. On August 10, 1957, he married Jeannette (Jeanne) McNamara at St. John’s the Evangelist Church in New Hartford, beginning a loving union of 68 years. Ron enjoyed a fulfilling career as a technical writer with General Electric, where he dedicated 36 years before his retirement. A devout communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Clinton, he served faithfully as a Lector, was a member of the Men’s Club, and served on the Cemetery Board. He also volunteered generously with the Friends of the Kirkland Town Library and was a Town of Kirkland Election Inspector for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette; children, Michelle (Steve Spudie) Roback, of Waterville, Michael Roback, of Malta, Barbara Roback, of Waterville, Kathleen (Arthur) Markis, of Utica, Christopher (Tracy) Roback, of Broomfield, CO.; grandchildren, Aaron Markis, Liam Roback, Emma Roback; two great-grandchildren, Elliot Markis and Matthieu Markis, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Suzanne Roback, a grandson, Derek Markis, his parents, Frank and Mary Roback, a sister, Elizabeth Dumka, and brothers, Joseph, Eugene and Francis Roback.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from St. Mary’s Church, 13 Marvin St., Clinton, NY 13323.
Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited and may call on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 4-7 pm at the R.P. Heintz Funeral Home, 10 E. Park Row, Clinton, NY 13323.
