James P. Jenkins Obituary
James “Jim” P. Jenkins, 83, of Clinton, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Eastern Star Home, Oriskany.
He was born on August 29, 1942, in Utica, a son of the late Bruce and Clara Mae (Pomerville) Jenkins, and graduated from local schools.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963. He later served in in the Army National Guard.
On June 11, 1966, Jim was united in marriage to Ann Marie Kaminski at St. Leo’s Church in Holland Patent, sharing over 58 years together until her passing on November 26, 2024.
Jim worked as a Systems Analyst for Utica National Insurance Company, retiring in 2007. He was previously employed at Special Metals.
A lifelong and dedicated member of the Clinton community, Jim was a former member of St. Thomas Church. He was deeply involved with the Clinton Fire Department, serving since 1971 and holding the role of Secretary/Treasurer from 2001–2021. He was also a member of the Deerfield Fire Department for six years. In addition, Jim was a graduate of the Empire State Military Academy and a member of the Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post #232, Clinton.
Jim enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He was a member of the Town of Kirkland Jaycees, the Silver Top Hunting Camp in Otter Lake, and was an Adirondack Senior Invitational Choir Host. He had a passion for the outdoors and valued the friendships he built through his many organizations.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie and John Ralston of OH; his son, Jeffrey P. and Sarah Jenkins of Floyd; grandchildren, Jeffrey Jenkins Jr. (Megan Newman), of Deansboro, Cassandra and Brian Evans, of TN., Emily Miller (Jonathon Bilsbarrow), of Rome, Christian Russell, Ethan Ralston and his wife Katherine Stuart, of OH, and Bailey Ralston of OH., and Hailey Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Aiden James and Greyson Stith Jenkins, Bryson and Montgomery Evans, his brothers, Thomas (Deanna) Jenkins, of MA, and Peter (Noreen) Jenkins, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife, Ann Marie, Jim was predeceased by his brothers, Paul and David Jenkins, and his sister-in-law, Catherine Jenkins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will held at 10am on Monday, May 18, 2026 at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Parish Church, 3364 Oneida St., Chadwicks, NY 13319.
Interment with military honors in Old Glendale Cemetery, Glenfield, will follow.
