Michael V. Crane, 95, of Clinton, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, July 13, 2026.

He was born in Clinton on May 6, 1931, a son of the late John T. and Katherine (Handley) Crane. He was a graduate of Clinton High School,  and was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1953.

Upon his return home, he began a career with GLF delivering fuel and later as a salesman.

On April 23, 1960, Michael married the love of his life, the former Margie Lu Roth, at St. Mary's Church in Clinton. Together they shared more than 66 years of marriage, devotion, and countless cherished memories.

Michael dedicated 37 years to the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier until his retirement in 1997. He was known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and the many friendships he made along his route and throughout the community.

In addition, Michael was employed as a custodian for St. James  Episcopal Church and nursery school in Clinton for many years. 

Michael was a lifelong member of St Mary’s Church, where he served as an usher.  He also belonged to the Clinton VFW #9591 and the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC).

He took great pride in caring for his home and property, and could often be found mowing the lawn, tending his gardens, and enjoying the outdoors.  Michael was a devoted fan of Notre Dame College Football and local hockey, especially cheering on the Clinton Comets.

Above all, Michael cherished his family.  He rarely missed his children and grandchildren’s activities, faithfully attending their sporting events. He took great pride in all his family‘s accomplishments.  He also shared a special bond with his beloved cat, Oscar.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Margie; his children, Michael (Beth Ann) Crane Jr., of Clinton, Kelly (Paul) Liddell of Whitesboro, and Daniel (Carolyn Lawson) Crane of Liverpool; his grandchildren, Collin Liddell of New York Mills, Katherine (Kiser Floyd) Liddell of Whitesboro, great-granddaughter, Laena Rose Floyd; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Cheryl Roth of Utah, John and Michelle Roth of Utica; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Rose Crane, and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, J. Donald (Mary) Crane, Robert (Elva) Crane, and Lawrence Crane.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, July 20, 2026, from St. Mary's Church, 13 Marvin Street, Clinton.

Interment with military honors in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, will follow.
