Obituary of Betty Jane Gill

CLINTON – Betty Jane Gill, 81, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 3018, at home in her sleep.

            Betty was born June 14, 1936 in Utica, the daughter of Dominick and Mary (Scalzo) Nicotera.  She attended Roosevelt School and graduated from Utica Free Academy, Class of 1954.  After graduating, she was employed with Chicago Pneumatic Tool Corporation.  In 1957, Betty met John H. Gill, Jr. and they were married on June 21, 1958 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Utica.  Betty was a homemaker, keeping her house clean while raising two sons.  Her death bring heartbreak to all who knew her.  She leaves a void in her husband’s heart that will never be filled.  Betty suffered a lot in the past few years.  The only comfort now is that she s being cared for by the angels.

            Betty leaves her husband of 59 years, John Gill, Jr., Clinton; two sons, John H. Gill III, Boise, Idaho, Steven M. Gill, New York City, NY; a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Gill; a sister, Rose Marie Koss, Oriskany, two sisters-in-law, Valerie Gill, Utica, Lorraine Nichols, Rome; a brother-in-law, Robert Whitman.

            A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 10:30 am at the R.P. Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton.  Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica.  Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 9:30 – 10:30 am, prior to the service.

            Those wishing may donate to the American Red Cross in Betty’s memory.
