Helen E. Townsend 1928 – 2021 CLINTON – Helen Eleanor Townsend, 92, of New Hartford, formerly of Clinton, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at the Katherine Luther Rehabilitation Center, Clinton. Helen was born July 10, 1928 in Washington Mills, NY, the daughter of John and Helen (Norman) Horan. She was raised and educated there, graduating from Sauquoit schools. On October 16, 1948, Helen married Eugene Townsend in St. Mary’s Church, Clinton, sharing a union of fifty years until his passing in 1998. Helen lived in Indian Lake for a time, where she enjoyed playing cards and bingo at the Senior Center. After returning locally to New Hartford, she resided at the Sunset Wood Apartments where she enjoyed the activities offered to the seniors there. Helen is survived by a daughter, Patricia Townsend, Woodgate; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Catherine Townsend, Clinton; two grandsons, Michael A. (& Michelle) Townsend, and Matthew Townsend; a granddaughter, Shawn (& Jeffrey) Dobbins; six great-grandchildren, Maverick, Everett, and Vance Townsend, Brenden, Colby, and Logan Dobbins. She is predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Mirarchi and Leona Christ; and three brothers, William, Raymond, and John “Junior” Horan. Mrs. Townsend’s funeral services, entrusted to R.P. Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., 10 East Park Row, Clinton, are being held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton.
