Stephen Joseph Vangura
1933 - 2023
Stephen Joseph Vangura, 89, peacefully entered eternal life, surrounded by his family, on Monday, January 30th, 2023, after a short illness.
Steve was born on July 24, 1933, in Clinton, NY to the late Caroline and Stephen Vangura. Steve was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time in nature, fishing and accompanied by his canine companions, especially his Golden Retriever Ruby. He especially loved going to his family farm every year to pick apples and attending the annual NY State Troopers reunion. Steve was a man of strong Catholic faith who would always find quiet time for daily reflective prayer and always had a rosary in his pocket. Steve was a proud member of brotherhood of The Knights of Columbus. He was a quiet observer of life who would never miss an opportunity to help a family in need and would never seek credit for any assistance he offered. Steve was a proud retired NY State Trooper and served for years as a detective with the New York State Bureau of Criminal Investigation. After his retirement, Steve and his family relocated to Largo, Florida in 1978, where he served his community again as a detective with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Steve was preceded in death by two sons, John Paul, and infant Christopher, who are now reunited in eternal life with our Lord. Steve was also preceded in death by his sister Carol and his brother Vincent.
Steve is survived by his loving wife Beverly, son Stephen (Christa) Vangura, son Terry (Wendy) Vangura, his sister Mary (Charles) Kunz, granddaughter Jessica (Matthew) Amuso, grandson William (Ashlyn) Burns and four great grandchildren Julie Ann, Ava, Austin and Mason, several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
