1933 - 2023

New Hartford - Our amazing Mom, Patricia A. “Patty” Wallace, 90, went peacefully to her eternal home with the Lord on September 16, 2023. She passed away in the comfort of her home in New Hartford, NY surrounded by her loving family and amazing caregivers.

     Patty was born on June 24, 1933, in Utica, NY to Norbert and Agnes (Ehlinger) Vaeth, and spent her life in the greater Utica area, residing nearly 70 years at the home in New Hartford which her beloved husband, Jim, built for them in 1954 when they got engaged. Patty graduated from UCA High School and later went on to work at New York Telephone Company as a Customer Service Representative. After raising her family, Patty returned to NYNEX and flourished there for another ten years. She developed many close friendships and was known for her dedication and excellent service. Patty worshipped at St. John's the Evangelist in New Hartford and Our Lady of Lourdes in Utica. Her faith played a central role throughout her entire life and one of her greatest accomplishments was passing her deep faith and love for the Lord on to her family. Patty was a loving, dedicated, compassionate and fun-loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She had a vibrant personality that drew people towards her and a laugh that expressed her love of life. An avid bridge player in her younger years, and the organizer of countless family gatherings, her greatest joy was when her children and grandchildren were together. Patty enjoyed staying active, going for bike rides, and taking long walks. These activities brought her joy and allowed her to connect with others. She will be deeply missed by her family and those lucky enough to call her a friend.

     Patty is survived by her four children, Steven (Rhonda) Wallace of Okeechobee, FL, Kathy (Don) Olson of Rochester, NY, Mark (Kim) Wallace of Nassau, Bahamas, and Karen (Tim) Madden of New Hartford, NY, 12 loving grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Richard (Sheila) Vaeth, Webster, NY.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James B. Wallace Jr. in Dec. 2020, and her brothers, Robert and Jack Vaeth.

     Thank you to all who supported, visited, laughed, loved and prayed with our Mom, especially in her final years. You all meant so much to her and you have touched our family deeply. Special thanks to many from Rome Hospital, especially her granddaughter, Jodi Wallace, RN, Rome Hospital, for the guidance and compassionate care in Mom's final days.

     A Memorial Mass to honor Patty's life will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Wednesday, November 22th at 10:30 am. Contributions in memory of Patty may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
