Clarence H. “Peter” Locke, Jr.

Rome – Clarence H. “Peter: Locke, Jr., 71, of Rome, formerly of Clinton, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 12, 2024 at his home.

Clarence was born October 17, 1952 in Utica, the son of Clarence and Doris (Miller) Locke. He was nicknamed Peter by his sister as a baby and it stuck throughout his life. Peter was raised and educated in Clinton and a graduate of Clinton Central High School. He joined his father and brother-in-law working at Partlow for a time. He then went on to working as a maintenance employee for the Clinton School System. Pete then finished his career working in maintenance for the Utica Public Library. On July 8, 2007, Peter married Joan Kimball. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, New Hartford. Peter was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, proudly wearing their colors. He enjoyed travelling and eating out, especially trying new restaurants. In previous years he had enjoyed square dancing and was a square dance caller as well. Pete loved spending the holidays and special occasions with his family.

Peter is survived by his wife, Joan Locke, Rome; his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Gayle Locke, Pennellville, his sister, Judy LaGasse, Clinton; nieces and nephews, Michele (& Steve) Bousquet, Pamela Christiansen (& David Canfield), Brian Locke (& Erin Salati), Tiffany (& Richard) Heintz, Buffie (& Mike) Haley, as well as by many great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, Pete is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Frank “Gary” LaGasse.

Services, entrusted to R.P. Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., 10 East Park Row, Clinton, will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Clinton.
