Obituary of Mary E. Novak

Mary E. Novak, 97, of New Hartford, formerly of Westmoreland, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024. She was born on February 9, 1927, in Utica, a daughter of the late Walter and Ethel (Burke) Fleming. Mary attended Westmoreland Schools until her Senior year, when she moved and graduated from Madison High School. On October 23, 1954, Mary was united in marriage to Marvin J. Novak, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Oriskany Falls. Marvin predeceased her in 2005.
Mary was a communicant of the Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills and volunteered at the Country Pantry. She was active with the Westlanders Senior Group at the Westmoreland Community Center. At one time, she had worked at Bendix Corp., Utica and for the Westmoreland Post Office. Mary’s grandchildren were extremely important to her and she never missed any of their activities.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law; Edward and Patricia Novak, of Westmoreland, Thomas Novak, of Westmoreland, Stephen Novak, of New Hartford, sisters; Margaret Sigsbee, of Oriskany Falls, Elizabeth Crossway, of Waterville, Jean and Wayne Russell, of Vernon Center, in-laws; Joann Novak, of Whitesboro, Sylvia Kalies, of Rhode Island, grandchildren, Brooke Haynes, of Westmoreland, Jonathon and Jen Novak, of Pittsburg, PA., Andrea and Greg Jette, of Rensselaer, Travis Carter of Westmoreland, great-grandchildren; Kaelin Haynes, Owen Haynes, Nolan Novak, Everleigh Jette and Carson Jette. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her daughter; Nancy Carter, three brothers and three sisters-in-law, John and Patricia Fleming, William and Patricia Fleming, W. Joseph and Patricia Fleming, and five brothers-in-law, Ronald Novak, George Bialas, Greg Kalies, Donald Sigsbee and Allan Crossway
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 9am from the Church of the Annunciation, 7616 E. South Street., Clinton, NY 13323.
Visitation at the R.P. Heintz Funeral Home, will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 4-7pm.
Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton.
