Vincent “Joe” Hamlin, 81, of New Hartford, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 at his home. He was born on December 19, 1942, in Utica, a son of the late James F. and Gladys (Baker) Hamlin and graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1960. On April 6, 1963, Joe married Joanne Burg.
He worked at Oneida National Bank from 1960 until 1967, and for Niagara Mohawk from 1967 until his retirement in 1999. Following his retirement, Joe transported automobiles for Steet Toyota. He was a member of the Skenandoa Club, Clinton since 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joanne, his children; Lisa (Steve) Zaleski, of Webster, Jeffrey (Betsy) Hamlin, of Highview, WV., Cheryl Chabot (Spencer Powers), of Port Byron, grandchildren; Joseph Hamlin, Steven Hamlin, Caralyn (Kevin) Chaba, Renee (Zak) Smith, Curtis Zaleski, Erica (Jared) Brewer, Ryan (Julia) Chabot, Andrew (Amanda) Chabot, great-grandchildren; Adelynn Zaleski, Theodore Chabot, sisters; Mary “Joan” Hodel, of Portland, OR., Janet Raehm, of Utica, Kathy (Ardie) Dandino, of Fredericksburg, VA., a brother; John (Donna) Hamlin, of Clinton, and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special cousin, Larry Baker, of Hamilton.
He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, James (Joan) Hamlin, and his cousin, Berneice Pohl, who he was very close to.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the R.P. Heintz Funeral Home, 10 E. Park Row, Clinton, NY 13323.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
The family would like to thank Hospice & Palliative Care for their care and compassion shown to Joe, especially to nurse Alyssa and nurse Alicca, and others who cared for Joe.
The family understands that everyone has busy lives and may not be able to attend the service, they request that you do a good deed in memory of Joe.
