Obituary of Edith I. Socha

Edith I. Socha, 102, formerly of Deansboro, NY, passed away on October 19, 2024 at Waterville Residential Care Center (WRCC) with her loving family by her side.
Edith was born May 24, 1922 on a farm in Knoxboro, NY, the daughter of Arthur and Daisy (Mudge) Brewer. She attended Knoxboro and Oriskany Falls schools.
Edith married Leo M. Socha on June 14, 1944 and shared a loving union of 38 years until his passing in 1983. She continued to live in her house in Deansboro until moving to WRCC.
Edith was a gifted baker (especially cinnamon buns), knitter, and crocheter and generously gave family members numerous baked goods, beautiful afghans and lace tablecloths over the years.
She had an excellent memory and happily shared stories of her earlier life with her family. Edith was a member of the Deansboro Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons and their spouses, Gary and Nancy Socha, of Palm Desert, CA., Paul and Joan Socha, of Whitesboro, NY, and a son-in-law, Steven Aldridge, of Waterville, NY. She also leaves five grandchildren, Aaron Platz, John Platz, David Socha, Dr. Eric Socha (Julie), and Alison Socha Gugnacki (Jason) and eight great grandchildren. Other surviving relatives include a niece, Judy (Moon) Elliott and a nephew, Scott Moon.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leo, daughter, Carol Aldridge, and a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Fred Moon.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from the R.P. Heintz Funeral Home, 10 E. Park Row, Clinton, NY 13323.
Friends are invited and may call at the funeral home from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Deansboro Cemetery.
