Hugh T. Roberts, 47, of Bridgewater, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Albany Medical Center. Born on July 9, 1977, in Utica, he was the son of David H. and Beatrice M. (Cushman) Roberts.
He graduated from Mt. Markham High School and worked for PAR Technology Corp., Walmart in New Hartford, Drake’s Industrial Paint, West Winfield, and at the ARC Oneida-Lewis Chapter.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Hugh’s heart was deeply rooted in his love for the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department. He was an active member of the department, serving as Fire Police Captain at one point. His commitment to the community extended to his regular attendance at the Friday fish fry hosted by the VFW in West Windfield, where he cherished the camaraderie and friendships he formed.
Hugh found solace and excitement in his passion for stock cars. When he could, he eagerly attended races at the Fonda Speedway and Utica-Rome Speedway, relishing in the thrill of the competition.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Kara Ashton, of Bridgewater, his mother, Beatrice "Bea" Dennis, sister, Caroline (Missy) and her husband Frank Stevens, of Bridgewater; nieces Diadre Roberts, of Syracuse, Mary Fisher, of LaFayette, Rose Fisher, of Bridgewater, and Danielle Roberts, of Sauquoit, a cousin who was like a brother to him, Shawn Cushman, of Remsen, his Goddaughter, Savannah Cushman, of Rome, stepbrother, Kevin Dennis of Stittville; Uncles and Aunts, James and Diane Roberts, of Clinton, John and Wendy Cushman, of Barneveld, Gary and Nellie Cushman, of Vernon, FL., Russell and Denise Warren, of Montgomery County, NY, Allen and Debra Stevens of Graniteville, SC, Dawn Cushman, of Sauquoit and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, David H. Roberts, step-father, Mark A. Dennis, and 4 Uncles and 2 Aunts,
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services.
Interment in the Unadilla Forks Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
