Obituary of Robert Warren Callahan

New Hartford – Robert W. “Bob” Callahan, 95, of New Hartford, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.

              Bob was born June 17, 1922 in Boston, MA, the son of John and Mary Callahan.  He was raised and educated in East Boston and a graduate of Bentley College. He went on to serve his country with the US Army during World War II, stationed in North Africa and Italy.  On June 24, 1950, Bob married Jean Hillebrand, sharing a union of 60 years until her passing in 2010.  Bob was employed with GTE Sylvania in Stamford, CT.  He enjoyed golfing and bowling. Bob also enjoyed baseball and was a Red Sox fan.  He was of the Catholic faith.

            Bob is survived by his son, Richard Callahan, Barrington, RI; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Jeff Musor, Wilton, CT; Melinda and Mark Kovack, Ridgefield, CT; five granddaughters, Laura, Allison, Meghan, Ashley, and Callie; a great-grandson, Michael; as well as many nieces and nephews who were close to Bob.  He is predeceased by three brothers, John, Joseph, and Frank; and his daughter-in-law, Susan Callahan.

            A Memorial Mass for Mr. Callahan will take place during the summer in the Boston area, with the date, place, and time to be announced.
