Ruth J. McConnell  1922 – 2018

 

NEW HARTFORD – Ruth J. McConnell, 96, a resident of the Presbyterian Home for CNY, New Hartford, formerly of Hernando Beach, Florida and of Deansboro, NY, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the nursing home.

            Ruth was born February 7, 1922 in Stockbridge, NY, the daughter of Frederick H. and Lucille (Mitchell) Kelsen.  On October 3, 1942, Ruth married George McConnell, sharing a union of over 65 years, until his passing in 2008.  Ruth had been employed with Hamilton College in Clinton.  She was of the Methodist faith.  Ruth enjoyed crafting, dancing, playing cards, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

            Ruth is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth G. and Margo McConnell, Hernando Beach, Florida and Canada; four grandchildren, Barbara McConnell, Michelle (and Andrew) Vasquez, Jennifer (and Jim) Northrop, Kenneth, Jr, (and Carrie) McConnell.  Also surviving are ten cherished great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  Ruth is also survived by a former daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Louis) Spina, Deansboro.  Besides her husband, she is predeceased by two sisters and four brothers.

            Funeral services are being held privately at the convenience of the family.  Interment will take place in Deansboro Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to the R.P. Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton.
