June G. Zammiello, 97, a resident of the Waterville Residential Care Center, formerly of Clinton, and wife of the late A. Bert Zammiello, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the nursing home. June was born October 11, 1921 in Utica, the daughter of William S. and Madeline (Gorton) Gruber. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Utica Free Academy. In 1946, June married A. Bert Zammiello in Utica. Mr. Zammiello passed away in 1982. June had been employed with the Utica School District for many years. Prior to that, she had worked at W.T. Grant Company on Bleecker Street in Utica. June had been a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. June is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Linda Zammiello, Clinton; and her granddaughter Laura (& George Wolfendon) Zammiello, Boston MA. She is predeceased by a brother, Paul Gruber and a sister, Doris Gruber. Funeral arrangements, entrusted to R.P. Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., 10 East Park Row, Clinton, are being held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Those wishing may donate to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in June's memory.
