Joan L. Potter   1926 – 2018

 

New Hartford – Joan L. Potter, 91, a resident of the Presbyterian Home for CNY, formerly of Whitesboro, passed away January 21, 2018 at the home.

            Joan was born August 13, 1926 in Utica, NY, the daughter of John and Lillian (O’Shea) LaRouche.  She was raised and educated in Utica, graduating from Utica Free Academy in 1944.  On July 10, 1948, Joan married Frank A. Potter at Blessed Sacrament Church in Utica.  Mr. Potter passed away in 2008.  Joan had been employed with Marine Midland Bank in Buffalo, and later with First American Bank where she became Head Teller.  She had belonged to Our Lady of the Rosary Church in New Hartford, was a member of the New York Mills Seniors, the Whitesboro Seniors, and also of the Embroidery Guild of America.  Joan enjoyed counted embroidery and golf.

            Joan is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank A., Jr. and Colleen Potter, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Jeffrey Stevenson, Syracuse; a daughter-in-law, Marilou Potter, MA; five grandchildren;  two great-granddaughters and a great-grandson.  Also surviving is a brother, Gary LaRouche, NC.  Joan is predeceased by a son, Danny Potter in 2000; a sister, Lois Barnes, and a sister-in-law, Carolyn LaRouche.

            A Memorial Mass will be held for Joan on June 29, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.  Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery. 

            Arrangements are entrusted to the R.P. Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., 10 East Park Row, Clinton.
