Constance Smith Obituary

Constance Brown Smith, 86, of Forestport, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Albany Medical Center. Connie was born December 22, 1931, in Rome, NY, the daughter of Reginald H. and Edna (Herder) Brown. She graduated from Clinton Central High School in 1949 and went on to attend Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. In 1953, Connie married Paul H. Smith in Canastota, NY. Her ex-husband passed away in 2007. Connie was an artist, working out of her home in Forestport. She belonged to the Art Center and the Art Works Co-op in Old Forge, the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute in Utica, and the Lupine Gallery on Mohegan Island in Maine. Connie loved her painting; she also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and swimming. Connie is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Michele Smith, Palm City, FL, Nicholas and Jacquline Smith, Clinton, NY, Craig and Christine Smith, Fremont, CA; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Neil, Abigail, Matthew, Daniel, Alisha, and Chase. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Sophie, Lucas, Nora, and Harper; as well as a special friend, Rich Karaszkiewicz, Forestport. She is predeceased by a son, Neil Smith in 1984, and a brother, Quentin Brown in 2008. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the R.P. Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 3 – 6 pm. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
