My condolences to the Cosgrove family.
John was a community stalwart and, in my view, legend.
In my various endeavors to report on Kirkland for the Clinton Courier and Kirkland Newspaper/NewsLine, I had many opportunities to consult and converse with John, primarily in his role as secretary to the Kirkland Planning Board and involvement in local politics.
He was a fascinating source of information and insights. His meticulous preparation of the planning board's minutes provided a valuable contribution to the town's operations and history.
I always enjoyed seeing him and, as I moved across country six years ago, missed my encounters with John around town.
I've never met anyone like him and believe I never will.
May he rest in peace.
