George F. Shaheen

1937 – 2023

Clinton – George F. Shaheen, 86, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023 with his family by his side.

            George was born January 12, 1937, in Utica, the son of Fouad (Ed) and Sarah (Atallah) Shaheen.  He was raised and educated in Utica, graduating from Utica Free Academy.  George dedicated most of his life to helping his customers at Shaheen Brothers’ Shoe Store where he started shining shoes at age 10, and then continued working at the family business until last month.  On January 12, 1963, George married Linda Ulrich, sharing a union of nearly 61 blessed years.  George was extremely devoted to his family and loved his loyal customers at the shoe store who often came just to visit.  He was a member of St. Louis Gonzaga Church in Utica.

            George is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Shaheen, Clinton; his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and John Lisi, Evans, GA; his son and daughter-in-law, George II and Sheila Shaheen, Clinton; three grandchildren, Sarah Shaheen, New Hartford, Michael Ules III, New Hartford, Rebecca Ules, Whitesboro, two great-grandchildren, Kaiden Ules and Aubree Ules, both of Rome; and special canine companion, Lady.  He is also survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Honorable Anthony Shaheen, Clinton, John and Patricia Shaheen, Saginaw, MI.  George also leaves many friends, neighbors, and loyal customers from the shoe store. George was predeceased by his daughter, Kim Marie Shaheen, and by his sister, Lamya Shaheen Stowens.

            Mr. Shaheen’s Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Louis Gonzaga Church, Utica, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.  Entombment will follow in Calvary Mausoleum, Utica.  There are no calling hours.  Arrangements are entrusted to R.P. Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., 10 East Park Row, Clinton.
